The Semi-Slav is an effective weapon in tournaments.  Grandmasters such as Vishy Anand have made it their primary response to 1. d4.  What is your opinion on this dynamic and solid choice for Black?  I will give two lines

In the first line, 6... b5 doesn't really defend anything, because 7. e5 wins it back.

The first line is the Botvinnik.  b5 is considered the main line and the game is very unclear after these turn of events.

However, you claim that black "defends his prize" is incorrect.
