Which one of the resulting positions in the slav and semi-slav respectively do you prefer?(from black's point of view)

The chigorin requires a certain level of positional understanding, since the knight doesn't quite belong on c6 in qp openings. Why this is the case can be quite tricky to understand if you are less experienced. And because this knight on c6 stands poorly there black has to play very actively in order to justify the placement of this knight.

Which is why I wouldn't recommend it to a beginner, since it might give them a bad habit of placing a knight on c6 in this kind of structure. However I guess it would be okay if you in a really good way warn and explains about the dangers of putting a knight on c3/c6 first.

@Conzipe: Why a horse should not go to c6 can be quite tricky to understand if you are less experienced. A beginner does not know such thing as "this kind of structure". Telling him to play pawn to c6 instead of a horse (pawns instead of pieces) can get him into playing passively in all kind of structures.

I think the best method is not to tell them anything and let them figure out things on their own. xD
Otherwise you have to make sure to explain things in quite big detail, to avoid misunderstandings.

Don3, since you are a beginner, study and play Chigorin defence. 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3/c4 Nc6. It`s tactical, provocative and used by all level of players.

Thank you for your help ScorpionC,but I just wanna say that I'am not a total beginner.I just wanted to get some good conceptions for these two openings.I think that perhaps you thought me to be a beginner because of the first position i gave, but hey,I don't know much about the that variation of slav because I'am a semi-slav player(and know more about semi-slav) and a d4 player as well.Even I know that the latter is better than the first one but did not know how.But I needed to know because many other players play this in tournaments in which i play(i have never face it though,I have only seen them play against others). Also thanks to Fezzik for help.

OK one more thing.I don't take chess.com online chess much seriously. If you saw my rating then you should also have seen my time out ratio and some of my games, most of them have been timed out at the opening! And also my peak rating is 2050(Now don't say that I achieved this rating by timeouts as every body on chess.com wins some games on chess.com with time outs but other than that I had won a lot of games to achieve that rating)Now you might ask,if my rating was so good then why I became so casual about online chess on chess.com.Answer is internet connection! At the time when my rating was 2050 for some reason my internet connection went totally bad and I wasn't able to connect to internet for nearly 5 days!Because of which I timed out more than enough games to lose more than 150 points! After this I was broken and never got as much passion for online chess as I was during that time. But look at my luck, recently I once again became a bit serious about this online chess and I started playing online chess once again and this time the brand from which I take internet service went into a strike for some reason and thus internet connection was disabled for at least 4 days which once again made me lose more points.I'am now hardly serious for my online chess and even if I begin a game i'm not interested in it for much time and commit whatever moves I want.

If my Internet connection was bad I would still make the best moves I could, even if I knew today may be the last move of that game because even from one of your moves you can learn a lot. You seem to be highly dependent on element of competition to put effort in your moves. So, if you are not what online rating indicated, what are your recent tournaments performance rating?

First of all,I'am very thankful to you that you are interested in my chess.Well when it come to tournament performances I usually come in the top 10 category in my local tournaments. But yesterday itself I got the Best U-15(which is not as good as top 10) prize in a tournament. The problem is that not much tournaments in my area.

A 150 years ago Howard Staunton said the bad bishop belongs inside the pawn structure with the pawns at c6,d5,and e6.

however the online rating here is inflated quite a bit comparing to OTB rating.

I have heard somewhere that it's around 300-400 points which seems about correct, so a 2000 rated player on chess.com should probably be rated around 1600-1700 irl.

I think you're quite underrated then, most players with around 2000 around here doesn't play like one.

Btw, 2. a3!! vs the sicilian is awesome!
