This type of position is the main reason I stopped opening with the King's pawn.

How is called this opening? Is it Philidor's opening?

 Yes sir.

This is called the Philidor Defence, though it is not in the true spirit of the Philidor. Philidor's idea with 2...d6 was to not impede the f-pawn with the g8 knight and prepare a quick ...f5. So if someone plays ...Nf6 first, and then ...d6 it is just circumstance that this is referred to as Philidor's defense.

I can't remeber any game I saw with Philidor's opening... Except Legal's mate. Probably I should try it. Thanks TonightOnly for your good explanation of it!

I like to play Philidor's Counter Gambit 1 e4-e5 2 Nf3-d6 3 d4-f5 which is very interesting for black,I think white is stuck for a move here, black is better in the position I think. Thanks.

I started with the italian game and now I am trying to figure out the lopez & qgd. Man the variations get so deep I kinda get dizzy trying to figure them out and often cannot remember what I learned the next day. LOL.Embarassed

Simply that I found it boring. When I was first started playing chess, I began to see the same positions over and over.
