I created this group for anyone who may be interested in exploring the Four Knights Game.  I like the flexibility of the ideas - anything from a positional approach to the vicious Halloween Attack, which actually inspired me to create this group.

We will participate in vote and team chess matches, and we will also focus on lines after Black commits 3...Nf6.  Of course, there will be discussion involving alternate lines that Black may adopt, but this group is a good choice for anyone looking for a reliable approach to 1. e4.

I might be interested. Could you tell me how the Four Knights opening goes?

Yes, and while you're at it, go to youtube.com and check out the Halloween Attack.  There is a 10-minute video that is pretty cool around this opening...

Uh oh.  Now everybody's gonna be trying it.

(Oops, forgot.  Everybody plays the sicilian so it'll never be possible to use this.)

It's a fun thing to try.  It's like white's pawn launch is asking the question "Is this anything?" because should it fade away that would leave black with the advantage.

Since the names Leipzig Gambit and Müller-Schulze Gambit date from 1888 it would be more respectful of the players at the Leipzig chess club who developed the gambit to use those names than one invented late in the 20th century.

5... Ng6 seems to be the main line nowadays.

I remember reading that the Mueller-Schulze is not sound if Black either knows the theory or has time over the board to figure it out. The line that interests me most in the Four Knights is the Glek system. It seems to be quiet but effective if you know what you're doing.

(The Glek system goes 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Nc3 Nf6 4 g3)

I hate the 4 knights opening to be honest and I find it boring.

The Halloween Attack is dubious because if black develops and gets out of any harm than in the middlegame, white is just a piece down and by the endgame, if he/she gets to the endgame, black should have an advantage.

Of course. But that is IF. It's incredibly hard to get there.

The Halloween's real Achilles heel is the possibility for black to just return the material and be fine.

Well, I invite you guys to check out the group...as soon as we hit ten members, I am going to be setting up team and vote chess matches.

Even if it isn't your primary weapon, sometimes it is good to carry an alternative weapon in your pocket, especially if you know your opponent is knowledgeable in certain lines from the Black side, such as the Ruy, for instance...playing 3. Nc3 gives the game a different flavor.
