I used to have my engine play this a lot against Net users - it was a real hoot! The bot never lost with it, but it came close a few times. It is definitely a sharp opening that will put some flare in the game hehe.
:)
Croat_1993, you would be surprised at how many are beaten with this opening. One of its main perks is surprising the enemy, and "a player suprised is half beaten".
very true my friend !!
If anyone has a game where they have played this opening and had an interesting game, doesn't matter if you lost won or tied, feel free to post it here so everyone can take a look and discuss!

This oppening is very different from what i'm used to. The next time the four knights comes up in one of my blitz games, i'll use this. But this won't be very useful in slow games cause the opponent will probably be able to calculate all the variations(im talking G/90 and above, anything less and the opponent will probably get into time trouble).
Though it is true that giving the opponent more time to think about the moves will give him/her a less chance of making a mistake, part of defeating this gambit is knowing enough opening theory to counteract it. Defending against this gambit requires an un-logical way of thinking for part of it and no matter how much time is spent on a move, if you don't know what you're doing it won't matter.
Hahahahahahahaha! I'm playing in a currently won position against the "Halloween Gambit". See board for the rest of my commentary:
Very nice defense, white should have put more pressure on you. For instance, rather than play Bd3 attaking your knight, he should have played Bc4 to attack the king-side pawn. This pawn can be attacked again by Qf3 which leads to a more aggressive game. Whites biggest mistake, letting you re-develop your pieces and giving you opportunities to stabalize your position.
tip for black if u think you are playing against someone experienced in this opening, do not take the peice. however if you feel confident just do it. it can result in a good game.
can the halloween gambit follow 1. e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Bb5
Can the halloween gambit follow 1. e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Bb5 a6?
No.
Thanks for this opening. I'll try it on other people.n =)
Nice opening going to try it on my dad! =)
In the first game what if black plays Qxb2 instead of a6..... plzzz explain.
In the first game, if black plays 10...Qxb2, then 11.Bd4 Qb4+ 12.c3 Qa5 13.f5 a6 14.Nc7.
