I'm posting this here to see if anyone has any experience with it. I've rented a book (I think the only one) on it and it was very good. I'm planning on playing it in a tournament and would like to get a sense of how many people know what it is.

What is the objective of this Gambit? It doesnt really gain tempo if he takes with pawn.  Although youd gain a slight amount of center contral if he did.  I just dont understand the point of the Gambit.  A really fun Gambit is called the Danish gambit where white offers two pawns for a raging attack

Now even though black is two pawns up he has to be extremely carful or else he will lose in a blinding flash!
It may appear this Gambit has some weaknesses.  But Lets take a close look at those!
The Danish gambit Accepted is a very rich game filled with Tactics.  But what if its declined?
All in all The Danish Gambit is one of my favorite openings and allways ends in an Exciting game I hope I helped you GL :D

Assuming it's the Jude Acers book on the Miami Gambit that continues 4...Bxd4 5.Nxd4 Nxd4 6.Be3.  I think there are some places online where you can find analysis that shows how black can maintain an edge, or at least active equality, against this gambit.  But everyone seems to agree it gives excellent practical chances OTB.

Plus, the book is great fun!

It doesn't take amazing play to refute the Danish.

What does the Danish Gambit have anything to do with this?

"The Italian Gambit System (and) a Guiding Repertoire for White-1.e4" is a combo of two books and it's quite good. It seems like few people here know it because you're mostly trying to change the subject :D

it's not as good as the evan's gambit.

if i could ever get someone to play 3...Bc5 in the italian, i'd friggin' fall over and possibly knock over the pieces trying to play 4. b4 as fast as i could.

I think Roman Dinzi... has a dvd on the italian gambit, I've been debating if I should get for a while now, I'm still not sure if I'm completely sold on the gambit.

The Italian Gambit is fine (though I personally prefer the Evans), and as  Happy_Ragnarok mentioned may not be a silver bullet for White but does give him good practical chances OTB. Just make sure you have something prepared against the two Knights Defense as in my experience that is what shows up on the board most often after 3.Bc4

Yeah, the Evan's Gambit is immensely fun to play. However, it seems most people know how to make it a lot less entertaining... usually by playing ...Be7. That's really the only line of the E-Gam I don't like and it also seems to be the only one people play against me.

What I'm really looking for is simply something less common with more traps... and it seems that the Italian Gambit offers both of these.

@dweckert: I like playing against the Two Knights even more. What I wouldn't give for a Fried Liver Attack :D
