I had a few games recently in which white played 1f4 (bird's opening. I found it difficulty to come up with something and lost. So I did some looking up and think I might play From's gambit.
I would recommend the Langheld-Variation of the From´s Gambit.
1d5 with the idea of 2...c5 and 3...Nc6
After 1.f4 e5 2.e4 White has transposed to the King's Gambit, which is certainly acceptable to Black, but he needs to be booked-up.
It's called From's Gambit, if your opponent doesn't know about it but you do, you can score quick wins. Look it up.
I go with a d5/Bg4/c6 setup
I generally play, in some order, ...Nf6, ...d5, ...g6, ...Bg7, ...0-0, ...c5, etc. Usually by then White has created a weakness or two for me to concentrate upon.
Definitely From's gambit. And if he transposes into the Kings Gambit then Falkbeer Counter Gambit
prefer ...d5, ...Nf6
But seriously, I've been on this site for almost 3 years and no one has played it aganist me. Is it that much of a concern?
This is the best setup ever. Not only does it neutralize all the d-pawn specials except for the Veresov, but it can also be used against the bird and you need absolutely no theory to use it.
Against the reversed nimzo a well timed d4 does the job.
Against the Polar Bear be able to meet e4 with e5! and you're fine.
Against the stonewall I play ...Bf5 with the idea of Bxf5 gxf5 with play similar to the stonewall defence. Setups with Nbd7 are fine too.
What do I play against 1. P-KB4?
The King's Indian Defense
It was played twice against me this week. Even if it's one percent of my games, I still want to be somewhat prepared for it
