weird move in the italian game

    my friend started to play this as he did not like fried liver or evans gambit from me. what would one play here for white? ng6 seems like such a bad move. i would just castle and maybe d4

    4.d4 is a killer.  You threaten to destroy the kingside and blow open the center.  big advantage for white.
