What do you think of the Sicilian?

its really not that great. Im a d4 player and a c6 player so i may not know much but i had experience player otb sicillian. I just wanted the win all lose all with the najdorf variation. its risky but if your a theory nazi then be my guest
Guys I think 1.e4 is busted. ThrillerFan just proved this with his consequential at-most four move analysis.
lol, i just thought i should warn people to be very wary of pretty much all the "advice" (even the serious-looking posts) in this thread.
on topic, e4 refuted by the caro? clearly nonsense.
nowadays everyone knows that e4 is refuted by the sicilian and that d4 is also refuted. you all should take up another game.
e4 isn't exactly clear cut refuted by any Sicilian variation, the najdorf does a good job defending but the misplaced pawns are not exactly a pleasing site white will have a slightly better development and platform to initiate an attack. In the Sicilian black has less tempo than white and black can only hope for weak/blunder moves and then can take up the advantage and begin an assault on the white king. Never the less breaking the defence down is still tricky, white should aim to disrupt the normal development of open Sicilians, should shake up your opponents :)

Tempo. I had not heard that work in this forum before. But it's a word that I use a lot. Interesting I have not used it... Anyway, Nice comment, I agree, and, bye....

Besides as youngsters we all must have played it 1000 times. Almost used exclusively while learning
WRONG! I actually never played it before I was about 1600 or 1700 over the board, and even then, in over 2100 tournament games, roughly half of them as White, I've had the White side of a Ruy maybe 10 to 15 times all told.
Some people did all their learning thru the Queen's Gambit, about the only other opening besides the Ruy Lopez that follows every opening principle (control the center, don't move pieces multiple times in the opening if you don't have to, don't throw the Queen out there too early, etc.)

The "WRONG" thing is completely unnecessary.
