Hey everybody out there whats the best opening against 1. d4?
here are my considerations Kings Indian or Semi-slav
I always use the King's Indian Defence.
It's just a matter of opinion, of course.
kings Indian 1
the KID is fun, but I like the Nmzo or bogo more. just my preference
The only problem I have with the nimzo Indian is that you lose a bishop and not agood chance in the endgame.
Kings indian 1
Nimzo Indian 1
bogo indian 1
I prefer the Nimzo/Bogo complex. I think the positions are just richer than those attained by playing the King's Indian/Grunfeld. I might look into the Dutch as well. Also, the Slav is a nice system. If I had to rate them I'd say :
1. Nimzo/Bogo
2. Dutch
3. Slav
Just because, with all the ways that players avoid playing 2.c4, I wouldn't want to commit my d-pawn that quickly.
The Benko but you have to be prepared to have active counterplay for the pawn you drop. Only take the pawn back with pressure aannd try and get a knight to e5/c5
There is no "best" opening. You have to find what works best for you. Look at the games of the champions and you will see that they played more than one defense against both 1 e4 and 1 d4 usually..... Fischer for example liked KID, Grunfeld, semi-tarrasch and nimzo-indian but also played others !
KID or Grunfeld. Someone include my votes now in the tally. I'm to lazy to do it.
I persoanlly use Grunfeld. Out of the choices you offered I'd choose KID as it leads to strategically instructive positions wheras slav tends to be drawish and difficult to play.
I play the Dutch. Actually, I play 1. e6 to either 1.e4 or 1.d4, and end up in either a Dutch, or a French (if he moves 2. e4).
I ususally play 1...e6, 2. e4- french defence, 2. c4, 3...Bb4+
skpula: 1.d4 e6 2.Nf3 is what I play.
If d5 then c4If f5 then Bg5If Nf6 then c4
Try 1...Nf6 The KID
He'll have doubled pawns which won't help him in the endgame.
so what you'll eventually undubled them and also they're strong doubl pawns
The Kid is the best if white doesnt do anything counterattack with f5 and f4
thanks
My vote goes to the Woozle Benoni.
