Which is better for White?

From what you know and from  your game experiences, which do you think is the better opening for White -- King Pawn or Queen Pawn openings? I go for the QP openings. They're more positional, subdued but double-edged, with a seemingly quiet opening and a sharp mid-game that usually has an exciting finish.

King's Opening, but not always I try other openings to get some idea and always be excited in knowing something new.

I like the King Pawn openings (e4 is the most popular), but Black always has the strong Sicilian Defense, a fighting defense that can really cause White migraines.

Sicilian Defense is also popular for e4 opening, but there are counter move for that. You only have to do is view some blogs here in chess.com how to kill sicilian or dragon.

It appears most people prefer 1.e4 -- I have stopped playing that move until further notice. First, I have enough experience with it. Second, I will get my practice by playing/annotating Fischer's games. Third, I would like to develop my other opening skills & repertoire.

So 1.d4 is stronger! First, coz I will be playing it! Second, because most people are not familiar with it, so you have an advantage if you know it well. Third, people will think that they will not lose any time soon because it is positional...  and they will be shocked to see that ...umn, not really!

I always played e4 and won many games against Chess.com hard level and other reasonably good opponents. But for past 2 days, Fritz10(just got it 2 days back) has killed me mercilessly  on every occasion so I am planning to play something entirely different (not so well studied and analyzed openings such as e4 or d4). Which opening to choose is a trickly question as it really depends on your opponent. Against strong computers like Fritz10, I would not recommend any opening that is too popular because it has database of thousands of games played with those openings.

I favour e4, though this is largely due to the fact that I am not extremely familiar with d4. E4 for me (as white) often explodes into the sicillian - an opening i love- or the scotch gambit (after 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6...then 3.d4 exd 4.Bc4). Any other openings, such as 1...e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 or 1...d5 2.exd etc. I am familiar with, and so do not find so troublesome.

If anyone wants a game, please go ahead and play me - as i have not yet had a game on this site/. thx. Laughing

for my deeper analysis d4 leads to slow pace of the game but the attacks is extremely powerful. for e4 the threat for mate and winning intention is too fast which i think it is only recommended for great attacker and very aggressive player but in response there is corresponding counter attack in this opening.

there are other ways to control the center and that is using the knights. actually there is no superior opening, it depends on the players who use it.

    I play:

    e4 e5   d4 exd4   c3 dxc3   Lc4 cxb2   Lxb2

From Black's point of view, I think QP opening is more difficult to defend. But I seldom use QP when playing White.
