Who plays it?
no one. it sucks period, all classic openings are way better.
using dubious gambits won't help your chess
Why is it dubious?
because what does white get for the sacrificed pawn?
You can get big center, or even better you can get big lead in development in open position with attacking chances. Aswell as it is good surprise weapon and your opponent can go wrong.
Recent game of mine from site playok.com
It was 5 minute game so there were mistakes and inaccuracies(mostly on black side). Still it shows that wing gambit is not so harmless opening.
ThE CENTER !
I play it!!
read granmaster repetoire. wing gambit has been refuted. the games u showed were low class. white must fight for equality.
Apparently, if you play this, you (a) don't like pawns (b) shouldn't be playing chess and (c) should seek professional help.
Wing Gambit has a better reputation against the French Defense.
In grandmaster repertoire Lubomir Ftacnik gives this variation:
However i think that white can get much better position if he try 6.c4. You can see continuation in post 6 where i posted many lines.
PS borgqueen i play mostly open sicilian, but still i dont think that you can easily refute wing gambit and that it is very nice surprise weapon.
just en passant no!??
I sent you game challenge man. Good luck
Or if you want, we can go 5 minute game
