I play the double muzio from the kings gambit. Very Solid
I play only solid openings...
versus 1.e4: The Latvian Gambit, the Elephant Gambit or the Franco-Hiva-Gambit
versus 1.d4: The Englund-Gambit, the Soller-Gambit, the Blackburne-Hartlaub-Gambit or the Baltic Defence
versus 1.c4: The Vector-Gambit
man some people need to recognize jokes
seems so...next time, i will not forget the ironic-sign!
Welcome to the "Stupid, but brave"-Club!
But nobody plays fried liver with me :/
Do I need to add one more e4 opening to my opening repertoire for black?
I play french against e4 and botvinnik slav against d4
ha same as me
Against 1.e4: Duras Gambit
Against 1. d4: Old Benoni Defence
Against 1. c4: English Opening Halibut Gambit
I generally play a pawn.
Against 1.e4 - French, Owen, Siclian (2..e6), Ruy Lopez (Berlin), Hungarian, Pirc, Philidor, Robatsch.
Against 1.d4 - QGD, English defence (1.d4 e6 2.c4 b6), Albin, Old Indian, Nimzo-Indian, Bogo Indian, Queens Indian, Catalan.
Against 1.c4 and 1.Nf3 opening usually transposes to one of above.
Against 1.e4, the Sicilian (either the Dragon or one of the 2...e6 lines).
Against 1.d4, the Nimzo if white allows it, the QID if she doesn't.
Against 1.c4, the Nimzo-English.
As white: I have no repertoire, I play pretty much anything. Mostly 1.d4 followed by 2.Nf3 and NOT Colle/Torre/London crap.
As Black: 1.e4 e5 (occasionally the Najdorf, too) and then either the Berlin, or the Closed Spanish Graf variation (although I am comfortable enough with other Spanish variations).
1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 and now either the Nimzo against 3.Nc3, or the Benoni (if I desperately want to win) or the Bogo against 3.Nf3/3.g3.
Against the English and the Reti, I have pretty much tried everything sane. There is no formula, it depends on the opponent.
just out of curiosity have you ever tried Smyslov's Idea in the Ruy with 3...g6? If so could you please tell me if it is good?
french defence against e4
the Tartakower Bondarevsky system against everything else
versus 1. e4, I'll play French! (In fact, I've come to actually welcome the exchange variation.)
I used to dislike both sides of it (years ago when I played the French, briefly). Now the exchange is quickly becoming my favourite reply to 1... e6, simply because it avoids any theory in an opening I don't see enough of to be able to justify learning it (not when I'm still so weak on theory with my major openings).
I've come to look at it not so much as a "defence" for black, as his offering me a welcome (and needed) opportunity for me to work on my endgame.
I only see a blank board and no chess pieces when I start to engage in a game????
No, not really, so I cannot tell how good or bad it is. I'm an expert in other offbeat Spanish variations (the Jaenisch in particular), but I bever played the Smyslov. You could possibly benefit from a fresh Chessbase DVD by GM Adrian Michalchisin, where he advocates the Smyslov as the main choice against the Spanish. I do not have it, so I cannot tell how good it is- the only thing I'm sure about is that Michalchisin is a very advanced trainer, and a superb theoretician.
Petroff Defense and Scandiniavian Marshall Variation (Nf6) against 1. e4
Tarrasch defense against 1.d4 1.c4 1.Nf3
Sicilian against e4 (Sveshnikov variation if I'm allowed to play it)
QGD or Budapest Defense against d4
1)...Nf6 against 1) Nf3 and then play to prevent e4
