Hi. I live in Cape Girardeau County of Missouri (Southeast portion; the "bootheel") and the closest tournaments (or at least "official" chess get-togethers) are in St. Louis. I was wondering if I was lucky enough to chance upon someone from the same area who goes to or at least knows about a club that is less than two hours away (i.e., Saint Louis).

I have checked Google and the Local section of chess.com, so please believe me when I claim I'm trying to not waste your time. :) Thanks for any help.

Looking at the USCF website (USCHESS.org) there are USCF affiliated clubs in the following cities: ST. PETERS, SPRINGFIELD, SALEM, KANSAS CITY, JOPLIN, JEFFERSON CITY, FARMINGTON, COLUMBIA, CENTERVIEW and CAMERON. However, I am not knowledgeable about Missouri geography. Check USCF's website for contact information.
