It is annoying isn't it when your checked and attacked at the same time even though you can get rid of that piece you lose your better piece. I have done this to others and they have done it to me there is no way out. so i would like your ideas on how to stop this from happening and just what you think of it in general.Surprised

Its too late to do anything at this point isn't it! The trick is to spot it before it gets to this... let me know if you figure it out.

I don'nt think a top class player would be caught in that situation. It happens of cause, but if it happens to you it's a case of once bitten twice shy.

this is what chess is about surely? trying to force these situations upon your opponent whilst defending yourself from them too. its all about how far ahead you can see these things happening.

This is why I dislike knights, I always overlook where they can go. I lose much ratings. If I payed Attention I would probably have 100 more points and WOULD HAVE 1ST PLACE IN STATE. Grrrr

Any time your king and queen are on squares like that, that oughta be a warning sign to you:  if a knight is anywhere in the vicinity, beware the fork.  There's one more thing to worry about though too there:  even if Black didn't have the knight fork, he still would win the queen with 1... Ra2+ (ouch).

Well,i prefer to position both pieces on different coloured squares or position one of them out of reach of the knight.İt takes much brainstorming to understand the knight moves.Despite this one has to seek for a way to put the queen on squares to attack the oppenent.İf you feel uncomfortable just try to take the knight :).Otherwise you have to play with the menace of the sword of damocles

it's annoying to get checked & the queen is in danger at the same time...but the most important is we must save the king..
