Who is the best chess player in the world?

Kasparov does not play any more. So the current best has to be between anand and topalov. That question will be answered by next year hopefully! btw all time great in my opinion is Bobby Fischer..

He didn't ask who the greatest chess player of all time is, I assume he wants to know who the strongest player is at this point in time. I don't know if Kasparov qualifies right now so I'd have to go with Anand.

Well, theoretically, since chess is a game of winners and losers, there should be a player who is better than the rest. In a perfect world this player would be the world champion and that's why I pick Anand as the best player.

What is Anand's last name. There are too many Anands in the world.
