Be honest. How many times have you cheated in chess?

What's the point? Are you going to feel better about yourself after you finish a game? "Gee, I sure cheated well on that game."

It would really be a waste of time to cheat on chess games over the internet.

I'll admit to it. In an over the board blitz game against a friend, I 'borrowed' an extra rook from a line of pieces next to the board. The sequence of moves was something like:

Rook (on d2) takes Rook on d8, Rxd8

R(on d1) takes Rook on d8, Kxd8

R (on i1, next to h1Wink) to d1+  ... White exits the combination a rook up. He was very confused but played on as he didn't remember what piece made the first capture.

I've never cheated in chess, but I've had people try to cheat against me.  Mostly my younger brother - if he starts to lose, he either moves a piece to a square that it shouldn't be able to move to or overturns the board (we use one of those roll-up plastic sets, usually).

If a piece leaves the board and then comes back later on in the game, I'd call that reincarnation rather then cheating. Thus I do not cheat.

Cheating on chess games over the Internet is done how...by using a computer to tell you what move to make next?  I have not done that, but what a great idea! (kidding).  I have never cheated in chess, but it seems to me that one would feel like the victory was a bit hollow.  Oftentimes, I would like to know what I did to win the game (e.g. good moves I made, or not-so-good moves they made) and with cheating, there is none of that post-game analysis possible, accompanied by the knowledge that you didn't earn your win.  If I ever get really sick of constantly losing, I will call over my 4-year old son to play, this being the same kid who calls the game "Chest". Tongue out

Its pointless to cheat really because if u cheat u havnt really won it, someone else or something else did it for u. But i have had people cheat by useing a better player or pc against me, sometimes i still won sometimes i didnt either way i knew it wasnt all them so for me it doesnt count...Cool

I never understood the purpose of cheating or using a pc to play a game of chess. My purpose in playing chess(other than the ancillary aspects)is to get better at the game! It would be like someone taking your test for you(which has happened in a college i was in)-what would you do if you graduATE and then need to apply that knowledge at work? ex. can you fix this- ah no but i can find out! Most work experiences i have had require one to think on his/her feet and quickly-not possible if you don't carry that knowledge in your own software!

No, it's pointless, you don't learn anything by cheating.

It all makes sense.

If you cheat using a program, you lean nothing.

If you are Garry Kasparov and cheat, you gat in a big fight with your computer trying to tell it how retarded the move was.

Cheating is worthless.

I have never even thought about cheating, i think it is disgusting and those who do cheat should be banned from ANY type of competitive chess OTB or online. If you think the computer is so great then buy one and stay at home and play it.

Never! only weak minded people resort to cheating at a game with the nature of chess, chess reflects your personality, so if you cheat you're weak in the cerebral hemisphere!

I wouldn't know how you'd cheat at Chess, unlike your opponent has no idea of the game, and then you tell him/her/computer the wrong rules and win by that way.
