I know chess.com tries to weed out the 'expert level' cheaters but what about the rest... If I wanted to play a computer I would... not sour grapes on my part... but it's pretty obvious...

D4E4 I sort of agree with you...Computers are a great tool... But chess is a game...

And my self imposed rules are: I don't use opening books and I don't use a computer... I play on the internet as if we were playing face to face... ( OTB?)

I hardly expect many to agree with me, but maybe those that do can form a group?

Just a thought....As in,  "we play internet chess as we would play 'face to face' chess".

I am thinking about a grass roots approach. I mean look at my rating... If I can detect cheating... and how can I? .. you know how....

I don't think you need to be worried about cheating at your level. Anybody who is pathetic enough to cheat only care about rating and your rating isn't anything special.

We have posted FAQs on this page that should address most questions on the topic. We also provide tools to report cheating to our staff. But having several constant and redundant threads on the topic that circulate with the same questions and comments over and over again isn't helpful, and instead causes people to worry more than they need to. If you want to discuss cheating, please do it in this this group
