How Much Time Spent Considering Their Move?

One thing I need to be more cognizant of, is what my opponent has in mind.  Comes with practice I suppose.

How much time do you 2000+ players spend considering what you opponent is up to and could do?  and THEN you make YOUR plans.

    Considering Their Move        YOUR plans

        50%                                       50%

        30%                                       70%

    What?

    Too often, I'm at 10% vs 90%

    Thanks in advance.

There's no really clear-cut schedule like that. Once you have cleared up all the tactics available (and for me it's usually 70% of the time used in a game), you need to know their plan(s) to chose yours. So think until I can see what they will play and then on the basis of my own plan I decide to counter theirs, sometimes to change mine to punish a mistake or to go on with mine.

I'm not anywhere near a 2000 player, but what helped me in the last game was just turning the board around and playing by looking from the opponent's vantage.  I figure I was considering the other's moves at least a quarter of the time -- how's that?
