I was just wondering what some of you think about people who like to talk while playing chess. Is it wrong to do that? Do you thing there should be a group for those that like to talk while playing. I played quite allot of street chess and trash talking was just a part of the game. what do you all think?

I guess it depends what type of match it is?

if ye mean here on chess.com I think chatting is perfectly fine and indeed i always start a game by chatting, it is polite at the very least.

Ive only found one person out of 260+ games that didnt reply and in fact disabled chat as soon i as said hello... i resigned immediately and wont play them again.

As fer a group.. well i reckon chatting is the norm.. so if a group had to be made i would reckon it would be by those who dont want to chat.. and id sure as heck not join it heh.

As far as smack talking.. i reckon use common sense and only do that with those ye are already friendly with. Some people enjoy that, i like a laugh, but other may not enjoy it, so i wouldnt recommend it right away ;)

i think chatting with people is fun because then you could become friends

Talking is fine, but kibbitzing (commenting on a game, especially if it's not your game) is not OK, as you might accidentally help one of the players.

I dont understand your remark or point Evil..but I do love my job, I have been a driver for 5 years. I was a correction officer before  I became a driver, and I loved that job too

Now, it is all clear to me, thank you. It is indeed I who have erred.

Someone recently refused to do a Statistical Analysis of my Protein Sequences, claiming if they were near as good at verbal jousting as I, it would be too much like hard work. (saps) for short by the way.

 

However i feel this needs to be clear up..I wrote what i did about playing females becasue I have not played many, in my streets there were no females who played the game, and when I find one to play online they were quite enjoyable and refreshing from playing men all the time! But when you approach one or even challenge one here it seems they are very unclear allot of times of ones intentions! Especially when it comes to age, so i added that in my profile in hopes of clearifiying my intentions! I just love to play the game against anyone of any race, age, or gender! Perhaps I will take note a reword it as such needed!
