I have reported three players who were blatantly cheating but had gold or diamond membership while I had none and was told toforget it. One of them even messaged me what Shredder thought of our position but the admins said that was ok because they did not know using a computer was illegal. Basically if you have an upgraded membership you can cheat and if you do not then do not waste your time accusing someone even if ur 100% sure because NOTHING will be done.btw I am a 2300fide player who has played tournaments in person since 1980 and only review the games after they are over. So in synopsis - you will be cheated on - end of post. Thx for your time
maybe cheaters should pay but get a zirconiun diamond next to their name
Yeah...I don't appreciate it when people act as though non-subscribers have no rights. Maybe we're complaining to make sure things are to our liking before we commit to paying. Or maybe we were promised an account by our school chess team that hasn't come through yet...(given up on that happening...I'll pay eventually). Either way, judging the validity of someone's complaint based on whether or not they're a paying member is folly.
There's a list of known cheaters posted by erik, including premium members. Search for it.
I think cheating should stay out of rated games, analysis of the game should be done post game not in real time..
I agree! No one should cheat. In fact everybody should just not-cheat instead.
At least you had an answer from the staff about your reporting someone... I have also reported someone and didn't get ANY word from staff saying yes or no, or even if they are doing something and how long it will take to get a final conclusion...
Should we move this discussion to the Cheating Forum?
I didnt find a Josh Darius on the fide rating lists nor at uschess.org, you started playing fide rated chess "in person" at age 4 ?! Your profile says you were born 1976.... hhhmmmmmm
Cheating in chess is an issue that Chess.com takes seriously. That said, it has minimal impact on the site and shouldn't be a concern for 99.9% of players. Unfortunately, there is much more paranoia about the topic than it actually deserves. Also, having several constant and redundant threads on the topic that circulate with the same questions and comments over and over again isn't helpful, and instead causes people to worry more than they need to. We have posted FAQs below that should address all questions on the topic. We have posted the Chess.com FAQs and policies here:
