I dont know if you guys have seen as many games as i have from this N.N. guy but he almost always seems to lose in a spectacular fashion. Usually he gets trashed in the first 25 moves.  Like in this game against paul morphy in 1850.

It is amazing to me how talented this NN is at getting completely smashed. I love looking at his games because they are instructive examples of what Not to do. If you have any favorite NN games please post them here and we can all enjoy his folly. Wink

N.N. may not have been very good, but he sure was prolific.

He was amazingly lucky though, He got to play all of the legends in chess. I wonder how old he is now... ;)

....also notice how kind N.N. was to allow Morphy to play an opening where the Queen's Rook is often irrelevant. He must have been off his nut to give Morphy the chance to play the Fried Liver.

NN: So, if I've got this right... you will give me Queen's Rook odds and I can play anything I like?

    Morphy: Sure, anything you like.

*Morphy starts swinging a watch from side to side*

Morphy: You will play the Two Knights Defence, badly.

NN: I will play the Two Knights Defence, badly.

N.N. was Greco's half-brother. Greco beat him mercilessly but this only twisted poor N.N. and set him in cement. His parents lavished all attention on Greco, not N.N.. He is compelled to play on in his role as loser.

He must punish himself, hoping to please Pater and Mater.

Poor NN he was made immortal by zues and forced to roam the earth cursed in a most gruesome fashion. He is made to love the game more than narcissus loves himself and yet he can never improve. He suffers terrible defeats even by the occasional low rated player. I even beat him once.

I know who he is. N.N. is a pseudonym, his real name is Anonymous. Many of his literature works are considered classics. He should have stuck to writing and painting (also very prolific), his chess is horrid...

I think that's a great idea.  There's currently no such entry:

haha. I would enjoy researching such a character. I think i will. Anybody have an example of some of his poetry or art?

For some reason I can't find any of his information. Place or date of birth and parents are a mystery. And forget about finding his parents.

Wasn't he that guy that always neighed when he moved his Knight?

Forget about his chess, this guy really has longevity. I think I recall him playing Philidor, but he still turns up occasionally to play a simultaneous game against a top player.

Maybe N.N. is none other than Nicolas Flamel? I know it seems odd, but perhaps he changed his last name for security reasons.

You've gotta hope you get him in the last round.
