Passive or Aggressive?

Sort:
Vanessa_Martinez

So I have thought about it before but now I want to know other peoples opinions on it. Is it better to play passive or aggressive? I personally like playing aggressive for the advatage of the attack. The question is which one is better.

jai_gap

both..i like to play passive n aggresive..

Irontiger

Both.

Any other questions ?

As always : it depends on the position. It's kind of a 'bishop or knight' question, if you see what I mean.

It depends on my mood and the rating of my opponent to begin the game with. Then it depends on the position in the course of the game.

"Invicibility lies in the defense the possibility of victory in the attack. One defends when his strength is inadequate he attacks when it is abundant." Sun Tzu.

Just do not commit mistakes in your attack and or let the adversary counter attacks... if so, then it's going to be fine.

Brilliant.  I've been playing this game all wrong.

Ha! If it was that simple I wouldn't play chessLaughing

You're right, I disregarded the quotation marksEmbarassed

Yes, certainly chess is about finding the "best move" as you have said. However it's a consequence of a certain period of the game...

Her question is if playing agressively is better than playing passively... obviously that agressively if considering 'passive' as a lack of initiative, as our dear Hurricane said. Now if it's defensively instead, so I don't know... neither me, nor her... that's why she asked us LOL.

Thank you very much, that is very kind! If you mean it to be sarcastic than never mind.

Me?  Saracastic?

netzach

Without the best strategy remain blind to what ''best move'' is.

Passive or Aggressive?

I never knew you even had a choice in the matter! :)

Vivinski

the opposite of passive is active. not agressive

suspicious

LOL guys she just misunderstood to the concept of passive... actually she meant defensive instead. Probably she was in hurry and couldn't worry about  simple details very easy of identifying in a way...

Anyway I entirely agree with netzach, without any strategy, it'd be totally senseless, unless the adversary doesn't have a strategy either lol. Chess is an union of tactics and strategy concomitantly.

Vanessa_Martinez

I consider passive the opposite of aggressive. but you can call it what ever you want I just want to know which "tyle" is better.

Find the best move attack and give no chance for counter attack.

I tend to wildly attack, so yes I DO have one, I try to suppress it.
