Every great once in a while back when I was in college lit classes I can remember coming across Staunton's name re Shakespeare and saying, "Hey, I know that guy!" 

It was like once seeing a composition by Philidor on this record of ancient musical artifacts.

In my opinion Harry Nelson Pillsbury deserves more attention thatn his games tend to get; he combined a modern positional style with sharp tactics.
