Vacation time for premium members is a bunch of crap. For those who are not they wind up waiting forever to make a move, obviously they the flow of the game is lost. My son had to forefeit four games because his hands were tied and he couldn't partici[ate in other tounaments... this is BS and you know it, and YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!  wusses NOT FAIR and I stand by it

I think we need to make some changes in the vacation rules, but what those changes are I don't know.

I have never used vacation time but if it is that big of a deal buy your son a membership then he wouldn't have to resign games to play in a tournament.  Besides we pay to have more vacation time and a few other things so get over it. Who are you to say we can't do what we want with our extra luxuries?  You should read your own profile page again because you said it yourself life isn't fair.

I think that if you begin a game with >2 days/move, you are saying that you are ok with people taking that amount of time for moves.  As for vacation time, it's there for a reason.  There are entirely too many of these threads.

OK, gentlemen. This is an annoying problem even if we are premium players. Let's think about the other side. When we are in tournament play and your opponent has auto vacation protection he may leave your game dormant indefinitely. I do think that this should not be an option for tournaments because tournaments by there very nature are different from standard correspondence chess. I am currently in a tournament with a gentleman that has over 1000 games going at one time and after he had not moved in two weeks he agreed to resign. You must remember that tournaments have conditions and this "luxury" is circumventing that in a way that I believe to be outside of what is reasonable.

ok, heres my viewpoint; the vacation time is a luxary that we have which is beyond that of real person to-physical-person chess. i dont agree with the fact that you can use it indefinitely & should only be used once per game, if needed. also, i think that every one should have the same amount vacation time as any other member, premium or not. i dont use it-or havnt used it yet-only because i havnt needed it however, it would be nice as an option instead of forfeiting a game on time. it seems like this simple subject becomes more complex the more i write & think about it. anyway, it is what it is & its far from being ironed out.

Two of the above posts sound exactly like commonly heard phrases on current political issues:

"I think we need to make some changes in the rules, but what those changes are I don't know."

"you knew the rules when you signed up"
