why do people always ask who was the best player in the world, just to let u know its impossible to know now. and what about the other people who worked pretty hard but didnt get first, for instance what about 2nd, or 3rd, 4th or even   5th y doesnt anyone on this website ever ask for top ten players or top 5 no offence but that's kind of insultting that u dont respect the players that ranked in top ten or even 2nd. so, i am going to try and change that. here is my 2nd queston who do u think where the top 10 players in the world!

For the top players of today, see the FIDE page.

 So, I checked out the chessmetrics page, and there are a handful of average ratings over 2850 for each range. I thought Kasparov had the highest rating peak ever with 2851. Do you know what the explanation for this is?

Chessmetrics uses its own rating formula to create a standard by which to compare players throughout history.

u all have some good ideas ,but no one has answered all my questons, sorry i didnt put queston marks everywhere that was my fault i forgot to put most of them in.but still if something looks like a queston try and answer it.
