The last four Chess960 games I have played have been the exact same starting position!  I'm playing against the same opponent, and we have swapped sides a few times, but the boards are the same.  I can understand playing enough games that you'll repeat a starting board.  But four?  In a row?

Is anyone else seeing this behavior?

Ok, the first question I guess is, are you guys sending unique challenges to eachothter? or are you, as I assume, clicking the "rematch" link?

Not part of a tournament? apparantly in tournaments all the boards are the same...

Nope, not a tournament, though I did notice 960 tournaments use the same board (as each other, not as mine).

That's a good question about the "rematch" link.  I'll have to check with my friend as he initiated most of the games.  Am I to assume that a rematch uses the same starting position again?  I understand the logic of that, but it wouldn't be my desired behavior.  To get a new random board we must send a unique challenge?

Thanks for the help!

I don't think is supposed to work like that at all, I'm just asking so that I can tell the right people exactly where to look so we can get this fixed. :-) Thanks.

Baseballfan,

You were right - the identical games were rematches.  We ended up aborting the 4th one, did a standard challenge, and the board was different.  It would be great if we could get new random boards on rematches.

Thanks!

Ok, actually, I just found out, that there were a lot of folks who actually wanted the ability to rematch using the same starting position, so if you want a new position, you'll have to issue a new direct challenge each time.

That is better. Remach is not same in 960 and regular chess. In regular chess, if I play one game as white and other as black we both had same chances, but in 960 setup has more influence on game it self. So i support the idea that remach in 960 be with same setup.
