2 rooks vs knight + rook?

I can't seem to find the answer online anywhere, but is it possible to force a checkmate with 2 rooks vs a rook and knight? I found a bunch of other combinations but want to know if this is a win or draw.

Well unless I was really sure of myself or wanted to maximize my chances of a win at all costs, I'd just trade Rook for Rook to ensure that I will 100% win or draw.

You can force checkmate with Queen vs. Rook so maybe you can force a win with Rook vs. Knight, but I'm not sure. In general, I think it'd be very rare to find a game with 2 Rooks vs. Rook and Knight with no pawns on the board.

you can force a draw if you had a knight vs a rook tho there is a certain technique involved

it really depends on the location of the knight

Rook versus knight is, according to theory, a draw if the player with the knight keeps the knight near his king.

I don't remember if I have seen any theory regarding 2 rooks against a rook and a knight. It is very likely a draw, but it depends very much on the position as always. Try it out here:

a rook & knight vs two rooks is ultimately a knight vs rook endgame with the same level of play from both sides

I obviously already have the draw if I wanted it, I wanted to see if it is possible to win. So I have no need to trade off rooks for a draw. I know all the other similar positions, such as a rook vs knight and 2 rooks vs 2 knights, but I have found nothing on 2 rooks vs a rook and knight.

I expect the reason there's nothing on it is that it will always either trade down to rook versus knight, or be the obvious two rook mate.

You shouldn't be asking for help in an ongoing game, though it's a vague enough question that it probably doesn't matter.  You can win or draw depending on where his knight ends up after the trade.

Yeah you're right, I wasn't going to cheat, I just wanted to know if it was possible to win.

If you want to go for the win at all costs, it means you have to battery up and get some forks going.

Still though, if your King has no pawns to hide behind, that enemy Rook can just perpetual check you like there's no tomorrow.

You have a big advantage in that your pieces work very well together but there's not much harmony between a Rook and Knight.

A rook by itself can not perpetually check a king, my king could just march towards it until it stops.

You can force him to the edge of the board, but I am having trouble finishing him off!

    Check out 6th game

I thing it is a draw if there are no other tactical options.
