I'm new here so please forgive me for asking a question that everyone else probably already knows the answer to.

Is it acceptable to watch a game in progress on live chess?  No kibitzing, no trash talk, no talk of any kind, just watching.

Thanks for the guidance.

Yes, I would think that that would be perfectly fine. I do it pretty often myself.

Ya, it wouldn't matter and it actually is very good to do so because you can learn from some of the games. I would recommend it.:):):)

No question, you can absolutely watch the games. As you stated, it WOULD be inappropriate, even moreso, specifically against the rules, to kibitz, or disucss the game in any way while it is in progress. Though, once the game is over, comment about the game is acceptable, and in fact, there is an entire forum on this site devoted to the discussion of completed games.

After all that being said, let me also say welcome to chess.com. This is a fantastic place to play chess, and to learn to become a better player. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask, we are typically a friendly bunch here, and we were all new once too.

Thanks a lot, people.  I didn't want to intrude but I do like watching a game in progress.
