Is there any way to know how much time I am spending playing internet chess on this site? Guidelines on what constitutes addiction to internet chess? Thanks.

Lift your head up, have a look around:
Did you used to have a wife and family? Are they nowhere to be found?
Are your career plans completely off the rails?
Has it been a week or more since you were last aware of what the date was?
A true internet addict has all the classic signs...bloodshot eyes, carpal tunnel syndrome, difficulty in connecting with people in non-device oriented ways, etc.. No way to find out how much actual time we are spending on this site???
That reminds me of a joke I heard when a school kid: The first sign of retardation is hair between the fingers...The second sign--get this--hah, hah, hah!!!--the second sign is looking for it!!!

here is a nice software, currently trying it out myself, is free for 30 days trial, cost US $39 (to monitor one computer) register.

About a month ago, I just happened to look away from my computer, and there were beer bottles everywhere. Empty cig packs and notes strewn about the floor. I noticed my cats wheezing across the room, so I had to get up and feed them. Then I took a leak and realized I looked like the missing link.
So, I took a brief break from this site to monitor my habit (I opened another window-I couldn't be away for long). I was relieved to see that I only spend 23 1/2 hours per day here. Not bad. So, don't worry about it, green.
Sorry! It was yesterday, not last month.

Get a piece of paper, a pen or pencil, and a clock. Write down the times you are on. Then you'll know. What you will do with the information is anyone's guess.

Hi. Firefox has a FREE plug in or extention that will monitor how long you been on any site. You can even tell it that you don't want to be on after 10 oclock and it will warn you and shut you off that site for the night.
In Google look at the aps and they are free.
All this type of programs are free somewhere. Some even put in a little clock that displays on your desktop.
When you log on it start keeping time on whatever site you set it for.
Good luck.
I once tried a nanny-style internet monitoring system, I think it was called "Christian-net"--basically, they monitor everything you do on the net and try to get you accountability partners to help you get it under control. the no-porn site has various options for those whose internet use is getting out of control.
It shouldn't be that hard for this site to offer an option where you click on something and it tells you how much time you have used their chess playing system in a given day.
