Are the articles posted by Pete and Jose Diaz really important for the players?Articles posted by Jose Diaz contain cartoons which as far as I think are useless. Articles by Pete are sometimes(only one time out of approximately 5 times) good as we get to know some unknown terms but rest is generally general knowledge which is as far as I think is available on the net for free.So is it really Important?(I appreciate their efforts but from the standpoint of its helping the players to improve, they play absolutely no part.)

*useless* is a very strong word to use. This site is not just for players but also people who can be described as chess audience or just chess lovers.

This is like saying RK Laxman cartoons were useless simply because they did not have any impact on current affairs.

Same applies to Pete as well who is a chess journalist reporting on current events in Chess.

Take this logic further and batgirl's chess history articles can be considered as "useless" but they are for many the most interesting articles you can read on this site.

Work by these writers brings out the human side of chess players which makes them more interesting, rather than some chess geek who is spouting algebraic code all the time.

We should have more of these cartoons/articles rather than less....

I defiently think that JoseDiaz's articles are some of the most important ones to the site, as it gives varity. Not everything is improving. It is also having a good laugh, and not being overly stressed. If you have a problem with his cartoons, don't look at them. He recieves a lot of good feedback, so that should tell you what the users want, and what not. Personally do I appreciate them tremendiously.

So I would even say that the cartoons helped me improve, as it gave me more motivation to do that extra puzzle. My tactics trainer passed 2600 today, so each to their own.

Well that is a part of psychology but we do not get any tactical training, positional ideas there. I think that Jose diaz's articles will be a good blend with the news.

Chess is a lot more psychology than you would ever think. And so is life.
