Chess.com for kids?

Sort:
Head_Hunter

I have a 6 year old son who loves to play chess, and I see so often on this site proud parents mentioning their child's love for the game. It would be nice if there were some way of having these kids play one another online.  Kids nowadays are pretty computer savvy, especially kids with tech-mind parents. I envision a special little icon for kids. Wouldn't that be cool?

Of course, safety comes first. There will be no chatting back and forth on the kid's chess site, and any message sent to a child goes to the adult Chess.com member who signed the child up. Any thoughts?

BTW...if there are any Chess.com staffers reading this, then know that I would be willing to pay for this service. Laughing

Cha-Ching!!!

for kids, like 6 year olds?  Wouldn't they be required of their own e-mail addresses first?  Are kids like these allowed to have e-mail addresses?  And how are we to know if Garry Kasparov signed in as Kid Garry?

Just keep things simple. "Kids like these..." should NOT have email addresses, but the adult parents or guardians (who should be a Chess.com members) that signed the child up and paid for the child will, of course, have email addresses. And I can't speak for every father, but I would consider it an honor if my child got a chance to play the child of arguably the greatest chess player of all time.

The details of how things will work is up to the developers. Should such a thing come about on Chess.com, I trust that the developers would have made security considerations.

If there's mate in 3, then there's mate in 3.  I hope kids can also go up against the adults, e.g., young Reshevsky, Capablanca, Fischer, Morphy, against the likes of Korchnoi here in chess.com.  Our young talents must not be limited to playing only kids like them.  I see that ChessKid.com would hinder this idea.  I hope a tangible way would be opened soon.  Come on great minds.

Oh man, that would be so cool...my 10-year old is in the chess club at school, and I keep singing the praises of this site!  As if my curiosity isn't already stoked enough with the other 1200 things that are being worked on... Laughing
