Hi it's me again,

Recently while playing live chess on Chess.com I've noticed quite a few players saying things in the community chat box like...." Any cute girls in here?" or "anybody looking for a girlfriend?" yunno? That sorta stuff, and it got me thinking! Is this site slowly turning into a dating site?! I mean c'mon people surely there are better sites than this to find a partner ( apart from Little Chess Partner of course)

What do you think?

well I've certainly noticed that there are a number of guys who are very quick to post welcome notes to all the attractive girls who join the site Smile Equally some male players who seem to play almost exclusively with women...

Hopefully Dating then Mating, it's more romantic.

Surely you can't expect Chess.com to be totally free of that which makes the rest of the world go round.

Don't knock it.

If I see a cute girl at an OTB tournament, I'll talk to her.  I'm not big on online romance, but to each his own.  We're still playing chess.  If some fella finds a lady he likes, why not try to make something of it.  After all, she loves chess!  What more could you want in a partner?!Tongue out

TAt sort of thing is harassment of women - was rampant at fics but i took strong stand for 2 years - got lots of abusive "tell"s [messages not stored on server so I can't prove that x told me y] - it has reduced drastically on fics.

Please don't let chess.com go the same way.

If you do that, women [like me] will ignore chess.com and stick to fics.

Harrassment?  We're just talking about people asking if there are cute girls or other such innocent things.  Where's the harrassment?

Today you have people wanting to sue someone for sexual harrassment if a lil boy in the first grade gives a lil gal in the first grade a peck on the cheek. Its gotten ridiculous imo. Such people are nothing but a bunch of uptight trouble makers, who need to grow up and get a life.

Not exclusively, but his ratio is pretty high.  Also, where there's a photo album with pictures of a lady, there you'll find Rael's comment.

On a serious note - i play now for social interaction rather than winning and losing. As such i am looking for opponenets willing to chat during the game. In this area the ladies are far superior to the men in that they can chat without needing to discuss soccer. So for me there is a natural bias towards playing the ladies.

However there is no call for some of the salacious comments i have seen especially on photo galleries.

this is exactly what i mean! and another topic has just been started about how a player was trying to get personal details from another player during a live match, like its some place to chat people up and find out about people
