Yeah, I hate it too.  It allows me to play slightly more relaxed games that I have time for, and it constantly allows me to walk right into traps and make stupid moves.  Of all the nerve.

And to make the primary features of the site free?  What in the world could anyone be thinking.

Wink

Since the player rich doesn't accept messages from non-friends, and my message to him was too long for Notes, here's the message I was about to send him:

"Subject: Indeed, I am a terrible chess player!

So why not give me a challenge (rated or unrated - your choice), 7 days per move, and we'll see whether you're actually comparing me to yourself or to somebody else.

Statistically, I'm about 100 points stronger than an average tournament player, and this I (not to mention other strong chess players) could tell without me even having ever played in a tournament. I wouldn't call that "terrible" - I don't say I'm such a good player, but terrible is a bit harsh.

Now, I've seen your incredible ego throughout many threads, and I must say that it is something you should try to keep to yourself. Humbleness is always respected [Speak softly and carry a big stick]. You, unfortunately, do not have the authority to call another chess player "terrible" and I have seen you do it many times. This also applies to many other insults you've given throughout the forums. You don't see the top players going around and saying "You're a terrible player" and insulting everybody; they are respectable, and you should learn from the best.

Now, if you win this game I challenge you to, I'll post this message I'm writing and publicly apologize for everything I've said here. However, if you lose, you have to promise (and keep the promise) of keeping your ego down to a reasonable level. Be nice to people. It's supposed to be a friendly website. I hope you have the same guts to challenge me to a game as you do when insulting random, innocent people on forum threads.

P.S. My threads are literally jokes, including the latest one you posted in. If you read through them carefully, you'll find satire and sarcasm evident in them. Before you comment, be sure to read - and think. Just something you should consider..."

The post-script also applies to other members who clearly refuse to think before they post. I would understand if they incapable of understanding English or general satire, but being members of chess.com, I assumed that most people here, who know English, are intelligent enough to understand the concept of satire. Especially considering my previous posts! I guess we sarcastic humorists of chess.com yet have work to do...
