    Hi,

Chess.com currently states that there are 89,900 players.  Is this 'active' players or is this a count of any and all players that have ever logged on this site?

I would like to have a better understanding of what a 50% percentile ranking means at this site.  In other words, does a 50% percentile ranking mean you are in the middle of the current active players or just anyone that has ever played a game on this site?

    Watch your back rank.

The list you are referring to is active members who are regularly playing games on the website.

Asked quote: "does a 50% percentile ranking mean you are in the middle of the current active players or just anyone that has ever played a game on this site?"

A percentile in stat analysis is valid only when the number of observations is large enough and at close to 90,000 players this is considered a large number.

The 50% percentile is the median of all of the players, the number at which 50% are higher and 50% are lower.

Does it include players that have left and their ratings and games played are still in the stats?, I truly do not know, chess.com is in a better position to answer this question.

I would presume that banned members are excluded from the stats as are their posts are.

Can anyone give a reason why the bullet graph does not have the standard distribution if the others?
