Go to your account page by clicking your username in the top right corner.

Click on Online Chess Settings to the right.

Scroll down. Near the bottom is the checkbox to become a greeter.  Check it, save, and you're done.

DPG1232 -

(1) Move your mouse over the "My Home" icon on the top right of the screen and click on "Online Chess" from the drop-down menu.

(2) Now you should be on your "Online Chess" page.

(3) Click on "Settings"--it's on the right side of the screen.

(4)Now you are on the online chess settings page.

(5) Look for the greeters checkbox and check it. It's below "Vacations".

(6) Click the submit button.

If you have trouble, please indicate which of the six steps did not work and what you saw instead of what you expected to see.

I think you may need to be a member for 30 days before this option becomes available.

What is a Greeter and what do they do?
When a new person registers on the site, they are given an option to play a greeter in echess.  A greeter is a member who volunteers to play new registrants in echess games.  The greeter will welcome the new member and help answer any questions about the site. If you decide to be a greeter, you may be randomly selected to play in the game.  Our system will automatically create the game and add it to your list of current echess games.

How do I become a greeter?
Becoming a greeter is easy.  First, your account must be at least 1 month old.  Second, simply visit your echess settings page and scroll down towards the bottom where you see "Chess.com Greeter", and click the 'Be a greeter' checkbox.  You may also specify how many games you are willing to play -- the more the better!

Oh! I have another question? Below the box where it says "maximum number of greeting games" does it mean at a time or in total?
