This is a position I reached in Live Chess today, here on Chess.com.  I had a minute or so left on the clock.  My opponent had about a minute and a half.  He refused my draw offers and we repeated the position countless times until I lost on time.  I'd like to propose a 'Claim Draw' button for such cases, as per the regular rules of the game.  Thoughts?

i don't know.  What would realy happen in REAL live tournament chess?  you would go until repetition 3 times wouldnt you?  I guess i would say do it however the rules in a live game dictate.

It seems pretty clear your opponent was just using taking advantage of the clock, i know the clock is part of the game and you have to manage your own time but in a clearly drawn game it is very unsporstmanlike to just outrace your opponent on the clock, just my opinion but you are right you should be able to claim a draw when the position is a dead draw.

I agree it sounds like missing functionality.  What happens when neither side has sufficient material to mate?  Does it automatically draw then?  In this case could you not have simply taken his pawns forcing him to do the same?

Had I taken a pawn, he would have queened.

I'm not sure how insufficient material works.  Hmm...

Ironically, your best bet was to take a pawn in the hopes that your opponent was trying so hard to stay ahead on the clock he would have moved his king again before noticing and then you win easily.

you should be able to claim the draw after 3. just click on OFFER DRAW again. we'll either change the text to say "CLAIM DRAW", or just make the button say "DRAW" to not confuse people that you can claim as well.

Looks like I made an @ss out of 'u' and 'me.' Thanks, Erik.
