Hi guys!

As has rightly been pointed out by several members above... IF we discount/ignore dislikes, then the equation we started with always simply results in the number of Likes itself; basically, whoever has the video with the highest number of Likes wins.

It's become clear that counting dislikes would encourage inter-competitor sniping, etc., and we never explicitly included those in the formula anyway, so let's keep it friendly and keep it simple!

The video with the most Likes wins!

Actually they have been changed as the purpose of the contest was never to get an ad that they would own (or is it?), but to get "the word out" about the site. Now views are irrelevant?

The "rules" are now most "Likes" win, still not best video wins. They have no control over seeing who liked a video as a bot used will undoubtedly win. I'm sure the rules will change again once they realize this. Most likely at the last minute when they start seeing videos with far more likes than views. And everyone will complain that it doesn't deserve to win.

The existing rules, or lack thereof, still don't clarify any issues brought up. Does a preexisting video with a lot of views count? It states the video can be anything, but ... it also has to be promotional. What are the guidelines for this? (E.g., does the title or description need to mention chess.com. Does it have to be in the video, or as Erik said, can you really just "submit a blank screen"? post #44) People are already arguing over whether using copyrighted material should be allowed.

As the rules of "anything goes" are now, could I just download anyones video, (as asked earlier by someone) and just submit that, or do I just guess what "anything goes" means? How will the winner be determined in the event of a tie?

And are you seriously considering awarding a $1000 to a 12 year old without parental consent? These are actual issues that would(should) have to be addressed.

I'm still waiting for these non-existent rules to be posted or clarified.

If any of these videos become disqualified, you'll have a lot of understandably upset people that put their time and effort into a contest for nothing.
