Asynchronous Chess. That's the key distinction between Live Chess and Correspondence Chess: in one, both players must play simultaneously, while in the other, they don't.
And anybody who knows what asynchronous means should know how that is different from Live Chess.
I like it, it's perfectly descriptive.
But I think Erik is looking more for a marketing solution than a dictionary solution. Consequently I have no good ideas :)
I do think if you could find a way to relate "asynchronous" in a common word or phrase then it'd be a great name.
As for not wanting to use the traditional "correspondence" chess because new players don't know chess lingo yet, I think that's being a little too greedy :). But hey if you can get away with it and find a good name, more power to you.

How about "Comfy Chess", waffllemaster?
That weird word? No way
I like it! Whenever I think of "cc" now, I'm going to think. "Ahhhh...comfy chess"

How about "Eternal Chess", or "You may die before this game is over Chess"?

... cant believe nobody has mentioned it ... so simple, how could everybody miss the right name...
"YOYO CHESS"
How does that allude to the extended time used for the game?
Generational Chess.
Your descendants play your opponents' descendants until the game finally ends.
Hilarious!

If eChess doesn't work because all of it is electronic and Correspondence doesn't work because snail mail is not involved then the previous mentioned email-chess should serve as the modern version of correspondence without implying that it's live.
"Sloth Chess"
"Loafing Chess"
"Lazy Chess"
"Pending Play Chess"

I don't know if it's been previously suggested, but "Intermittent Chess" is about the best fit I can come up with.
We still happily use the term 'correspondent' to refer to news reporters who have long since given up the practice of sending their reports via the postal system.
Why is it so hard to allow users of chess.com to take for granted the fact that their 'correspondence' won't require any stamps to be licked?
Despite my little jest above, OCC is a good description. But I guess that the site doesn't want to use an abbreviation and the whole lot is too long, so that just brings us back to CORRESPONDENCE CHESS.
My vote is cast.
"Am/PM Chess"
"Week Long Chess"
Sorry for this one, "Geritol Chess" (spelling is probably wrong)
