"Play Anytime" Chess for "Masters" And "Newbies"

(that's right--- you got it --- I'm suggesting we call it "Pac-Man!")

Ahh, but it's available on a mobile device (which, incidentally, also works from my basement).

The way I see it Erik could call it some big corporate name and they could pay for the right to use it...or have a guest host weekly chess name like they do on the telly.

    Correspondence Chess.

And this is a survey question.

Correspondence Chess sounds long but official.

    Echess is too short.

Correspondence Chess is obviously the choice of the members according to the "vote." It must be very frustrating for Erik to want to change the name to "Daily Chess" or "Slow Chess" (Comment #19), to then set up a "vote on the name!" so he can make the change with the benefit of the vote's imprimatur of his choice (after all, he had already declared the "old-school names," one of which is "Correspondence Chess," to be failures even before the "voting" started) and appear to be merely acceding to the preference of the membership, and then after all that have the survey turn out "wrong." After all, the "voting" is still 50% for "Correspondence Chess"--33% more than the second most popular "new" name on the list--and only 8% for each of his choices. Now he seems to face an unpleasant dilemma. He can either autocratically shove one of his choices down our throats (in the same manner he is shoving the new user interface down regardless of the dismay and disapproval of many) despite the clear preference for "Correspondence Chess" expressed in the "vote" by the members (his customers who presumably provide him his living); or he can rename it "Correspondence Chess," which is not his preference. Maybe that's why the voting is still open--to give it more time to turn out "right." If that's the case, the vote may continue in perpetuity! Realistically, isn't it time to change the names of "online chess" or "turn-based chess" to "Correspondence Chess" while we are all still alive to witness the change?

The quality of this site does not depend upon the irrelevance of the name employed for correspondence chess. Those who seek it will find it no matter what you call it.

My gracious me!  As a gentile Suth'n lady livin' in Geo'gia, ah would Neva allow a "scream" to pass my lips!  Even if mah plantation was suddenly invaded by Yankees (!), ah would simply let out a soft, high-pitched little "oh, deah!" as I swooned gracefully, endin' up on the floor, beautifully arranged, with my ankles crossed demurely and one arm over my head, curled so as to frame mah unconscious face.

(I have WAY too much time on my hands today....)
