This is close to my other suggested feature, but more of an expansion of:

http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/feature-request-quotopponents-in-commonquot

My wife was on Netflix the other day and it suggested to her some movies that she might want to rent... I was on Amazon yesterday, and of course you know Amazon always likes to tell you other "similar products" based on their order information & ratings.

Facebook simply bases it on "who you know".. (3 of your friends know this guy, you might know this guy too..)

Chess.com  could come up with a computation built off of wins & losses or something.

A sample computation:  If I played 3 people that played Erik... and Erik & I have a similar win vs. loss ratio, then Chess.com might suggest I play him, and then pop up a link for me to challenge him & perhaps 3 others.  I am sure over time that Chess.com can further refine their calculation

perhaps you could add calculations depending on game data, such as:

- How soundly you were whipped by similar players in the past.. (you do keep score of pieces in a game)

- Whether they timed out or not..

I'm sure you keep track of that data..

OR preferences generated by other features I have suggested, such as:

"favorites"

http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/favorites

"Activity level of player"

http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/active-players

*Where* should this go?

As far as where this could be, then you could have a link pop up on the chess game page after a win or a loss..

Put it as a link (to a page with a list on it) underneath the message:

"KevinGabbert won by checkmate!"
