Hi all,

I would really like to know who all the forum moderators and admins are.  We already know all the Staff :-) due to their neat logo, but I struggle to figure out who the other guys are.

The main reason for this is really about respect and authority.  I'm not sure about the rest of you, but we have plenty of healthy debates here at Chess.com and I would really like to know when someone is speaking from a position of authority and thus, to all intents and purposes, that should be the end of it.

Perhaps these guys could have a little logo beside their names too?

Might help to stop me getting into trouble. :-)

What do you think?

Good idea mate. Most forums have a link to a list of admins and mods, which can be broken down by "department", that would be handy aye, cheers.

Thanks for the supportive comment. Certainly I can say that from my time on HalfLife that we always knew you exactly all the Clan members were and therefore who was in charge and in fairness it kept everybody in line.

Aha! Exactly.. heh  HL... I played Day of Defeat Source fer a few years and tinkered about with a clan or two but mostly snuck about as a freelance agent of destruction :D   Always worth a chuckle being untitled and then killing most of a clan team on their own server ;P

Ahem. but aye, messin aside, respect is vital and though i would offer a level of respect to everyone regardless, admins and mods would get a little more (even if it was just to know who not to kill too often before he accused me of hacking ;P)

ummm.... good question.  here are the moderators:

billwall, sonofpearl, porchdog. but to be honest, it's mostly just staff and reports from users :)

I try to play chess and checkmate in moderation.  And I do what Erik tells me to.

billwall, great comment.

I would love to be in that position, but sometimes conscience and mischievousness just don't allow me.

Sometimes one has to know when they are getting out of hand, and reign it in. I had to keep myself in check in my own forum topic because I was getting too riled up. I would imagine that as chessplayers, we would be able to exihibit this small bit of self control. Interesting arguement though, which reminds me of police rights fights in the states. They argue here about law inforcement done by camera, and people cry about it as though they weren't breaking the law just because a human officer didn't manually catch them in the act. We do need to self police our own actions. I would love to go beserker sometimes in the forums but I respect the staff and more importantly the other users to not waste space with such trivial things.

I think Evil-homer would like to know whose shins he can kick without going in the poke ; )  He's probably a bit like my Irish ancestors and likes to get in a playful scrum from time to time.

Oh playful scrum, you have to consider that it is now  in the morning and I have yet to go to bed.

Munchies, you are part correct, but I still do respect authority and when I'm told to back off, I will do.  Having said that, on this site, we have moderators and self appointed moderators, one who I will respect outright and one who I feel should be harangued into Hades.

If I was to be billwall and not retired somewhere on the continent then something has gone wrong and I mean that as no disrespect, but boy have I bought into the american dream. :-)
