Recently I "won" a game against Lenny Bongcloud (well actually he timed out before I had the chance to get my king to the othir side).

As the rating difference was about 1850 points, I didn't expect any rating gain. Amazingly however, my rating went up by 1 point! So my question is: do you always gain rating after a win? On another site I play on this is not the case.

I can't answer to your question, but...

"King to the othir side"! Laughing

I have never known there is a possibility for that kind of goal also. But that sounds interesting. Was that a unique idea of your two or have you played more of those games?

Thanks RetGuvvie98, I searched the forums but couldn't find it. Do you know which topic that was in? I just find it a bit strange that in theory I could rise to the top by playing a few hundred games vs timmaylivinalie and Polgar0 for example.

edit: BTW, there is one game where Lenny managed to get his king to the othir side. A moral win, after which he resigned of course. But quite a feat nonetheless.

Yes, actually I wasn't surprised of Lenny's moves but Linksspringer's... But to me his counterplay seemed somehow very liberal and "polite". I don't think chess should always be so serious. And yet he didn't have to worry about loosing points...

Yeah, I tried to advance my king behind a shield (and battering ram) of queenside pawns. Unfortunately he saw right through me and destroyed my shield with some brilliant piece sacrifices. Laughing

I just discovered this thread and played over your game with Lenny_Bongcloud.  How on earth did you manage to suppress your "chess" sense in favor of your "fun" sense?

LOL! Thanks for that! Laughing
I really wanted to get my king to the 'othir' side quickly and I had to take care I wouldn't accidently deliver mate. Wink Unfortunately he timed out Frown
