I had submitted a bug about this a few weeks back, but it still seems to be ongoing -- Game Explorer is no longer updating the chess.com user section of the database, and hasn't been for some time.

It was just a nuisance for a little while, but when the last chess.com tournament started, it became more of an annoyance, because half my opponents had NO games in the database.  It wasn't that they hadn't played games -- in one case, he'd played several hundred -- it was just that they weren't there because they were all within the past month.  And I can always check it quickly on myself as Black, because my game list against the English opening has been stuck on 3 for months now, even though I've completed twice that number against it in that time.

Any plans to get this going again?  I think it's a pretty important perk of premium membership, and it's been out of commission for a while now.

Yes, we are aware of the problems with the Game Explorer not updating and we are working to get this resolved as soon as possible. We thank you for your patience in this matter.

here's the deal: we're revamping explorer in 3 ways:

- removing silly games that snuck into the database (from children's championship matches, etc where there is poor play)

- adding updates to the database (hundreds of thousands of GM-level games from recent history)

- fixing an issue where enpassant was making it hard to compare positions (so we weren't seeing all possibly positions all of the time)

to do this we have to run crazy scripts for WEEKS. once we are done with this we will put all games back on. i suspect this will be done before July 1.

sorry!

Gotcha.  Thanks for the update, Erik!  Nice to know the inconvenience is part of a larger plan, instead of just neglect.
