I'm thankful for the women that are here (in the game).  More are on the way.

I would be happy if I could just click a "thumbs-down" on a certain post. Report Abuse is too strong, and it's just not worth the effort.

Even if it were a joke, which it's not, it wasn't funny the 1st time, and it's not funny the 50000000th time, plus it's just a regurgitation of someone else's ideas.

if you didn't like my joke: oops, my bad.  sorry.

Why do so few women play chess?

Its simple: Women don't  because chess doesn’t comport with a general concept of what women should do, and this means there is little incentive for women to start, and those that do start don't  get much support from many players that are here. Worse, as the posts here indicate, there is a general level of misogyny in the Chess.com community.

What posts above do is inform the chess community and perspective female players that if you become a chess player and are also female its more likely that people will comment on your chest rather than your chess.

This post asks who is hot. And while this is a chess site, and while Chess.com community should encourage a wide variety of discussion, this post is so tangentially related to chess that it should not be allowed or encouraged by members.

Chess.com is about "play. share. learn."  Not "harass, objectify, and ogle".

And this isn’t about “offending” members. This is a critique is about what Chess.com asks of its members and how the community conveys expectations to its members. When I visit a chess site, I don’t expect it to resemble a porn or gossip mag.

Fortunately, Chess.com has the ability to change much of that.  All Chess.com members need to do is portray women chess players as chess players first, and not as sexual or domestic objects.  Right now, the site seems to focus on the later part first and the chess part second.

Don't feel sorry. Don't keep blaming the counterparty for something you said. Personal responsibility.

And while I don't exactly agree with ChessKitty, since her post was sort of a null post, I agree with the spirit of the post.

a agree with you completely, people who have been posting on this topic...men who have been posting on this topic are just talking 'subtly' about hot women that they have played against or they want to express any sexist views they harbour in the form of a joke.

I love a good joke, especially at someone else's expense! Ha! Really, let's not get our feathers ruffled so easily. Women are tough, they can take it. They give birth. They watch soap operas. Come on people! Live a little!

this is total bullshit.  don't be sorry?  i said sorry if what i said didn't resonante with you or if you didn't see the humor.  it was total satire.  you should read the wiki article on satire.

don't be so quick to get offended.  your life will be easier if you let it roll.

next, you're gonna tell me that jonathan swift really wanted to eat irish babies.

i have never played chess against a "hot" woman.  especially on chess.com.  how would i even know?  maybe there should be a new thread about chess and porn, or chess + porn.

too progressive?
