Hello!

Hello! I am currently 12 years old and I'm a member on chesskid.com known as Caleb_John. I'm new, well not new but this is my first time I'm starting to go on to my account every day.

Also I know someday I'll become a GM and that's what my friends say to me all the time. Also I study openings every day for 3 hours! (I hope for a slight advantage at the beginning of the game (nobody likes falling into an opening trap!))

One of my hobbies is collecting pics off of the Internet so don't be surprised if I change my avatar a lot!

And I'm glad to be a member of chess.com! This is clearly the best chess website! :)

I've also all ready played some great blitz games. Now I look back at them we both did a bunch of mistakes but that's blitz!

I don't think studying openings for 3 hours is really useful!Instead, you should practise tactics, that would be much better for your chess improvement!

OK! Thanks! I do have 2 tactic books! :)

Yes, tactics and endgames would be the way forward. You would make more progress in thirty minutes of studying these than three hours of openings.Wink

I sincerely hope Chess is still as important to you in about four years time. That's because everything (sort of) is about to change for you.
If so, you might well be in with a chance. Good Luck!

I agree with the others that tactics would be a much better use of your time.

Yup! And I agree 2! :)

But openings are still important a little bit! :)

I like your second game more than your first, you actually checkmated.

If openings are more fun for you, do them.  Your style, strengths and focus will change over time.  I like your courage at such a young age....

I love to study openings just like you, but I am also realizing that tactics is much much more important, along with the different endgames.
