The traditional folk-mythology figure of the "Green Man" has always really appealed to me, and it went with my username.  Then I created a theme along that line, as well.  (And now I've actually got three seasonal themes that I use during the appropriate times of the year.)

I paid good money to the photographer for this photo! I want to get my money's worth out it!

Next life I am coming back as a photographer.

*Snap, Snap*, "That will be $300 thank you very much... come again :) "

I wanted my icon to look good when viewed in the extremely small version beside my name in a list - so I made it look like chess squares.

My grandmother (NannyPrawn) took this photo of me when I was just a little Prawnlette. I'm happy that she captured my "good side".

I try to show people that i am not a beginner with my picture of the hardest mate possible in chess with a king, knight, and bishop. I have not perfected this mate yet. But i will.

My photo is a picture of the black king of my set of chess pieces. It is a very detailed chess set. As you see the black king has a beard.

Well here we go..

Ahhca - Its anagram "achha" means "good" in Hindi and it is also the nickname of my best friend hereSmile.

As for the profile pic (a pose from the movie "Shawshank Redemption"), the tagline of this movie runs as "Fear can hold you prisoner, Hope can set you free" and this is something I live by.

As a sidenote, I think this is one of the best Hollywood movies not to have won an oscarSurprised!

Cheers,

Looks like a very special set Gert-Jan.. we have a marble set here at home which we bought from an auction.. I play sometimes with my son, but he dropped the knight and crack, there goes his head... tried one superglue but the pieces would not bind. :(

I think this was a very big error on behalf of the Academy to not award the directors/producers of this movie an Oscar.. it's acclaimed as a very popular and respected movie.

And you did my trick Ahhca, you typed 'one' where you meant to type 'won'... I do that all the time...

The man who I most admire.

@Ahhca - The Shawshank Redemption is one my favourite movies ever. Frank Darabont is a real genious - while "Green Mile" is just pretty good, "The Mist" is fantastic. Really captures the King-ish quality of the story.

ha ha, nice one babs...Happens.. I was actually editing it when you were posting I suppose :). The irony was that the Oscars in 1994 was swept by Tom Hank's Forrest Gump which in itself was so inspiring! Bad timing to have released the movie maybe Wink.

@ Xylograph, ya Greenmile was just fantastic though I am yet to see "The mist" :).

At the cost of not turning this into a movie threadSmile but still,

a trivia Quiz for u guys, what is the connect between "Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile" apart from Frank Darabont?

Cheers,

Easy one... Both movies were produced based on novels written by Stephen King.....

The Wire is one of my favorite shows of all time, and I think Brother Muozone is one of the more interesting characters I've ever seen on a serial.
