I have posted plenty of vitriol concerning the live chess on this site so I felt the following was only fair.  I recently downloaded Firefox because some said live chess performance was improved by using it instead of IE.  With Firefox, I played live chess for over an hour consisting of several games and found the experience greatly satisfying.  I had not one disconnect or any funny business with lag.  If you are going to play live chess at chess.com, Firefox is a must.

Anyone who's ever build a website of any consequence knows that Microsoft has for a long time not given a rat's nose care about whether their browser did the best job or was consistent or compatible or anything reasonable. True, they're trying to behave a little better now, but IE has been a thorn for anyone to write to. Since they own the largest installed base, it lowers their incentive to listen to anyone. Not at all surprise that Firefox works better.

there's also an addon for firefox that puts a symbol in the lower right hand corner.  This symbol shows if it's your move or not.  You can find it under the resources menu at the top of chess.com, in the downloads section.  It's really great!
