2 things, I am wondering how live chess is working fr other iPad users. I experience a lot of clunkiness there myself. If I try to move to fast it won't process my move and I end up wasting 5 or even 10 seconds trying to get my timing right. I play unrated but have found that I haveto really increase bonus time to make up for the move entry hangs. Second, and perhaps more importantly, I have never been able to get sound to work in live chess. I am talking about the audio cue that my opponent has moved. Anyone have a solution for r? Thanks...

Does the Chess.com iPad app support live chess now? The version currently available for the original iPad does not. Is the iPad 2 version different?

it works, sort of but I can't see any reason to use it over the ipad safari browser...

Erik, do you have an answer to my question about "move made" sounds not being evident in live chess?

Also, Kohai told me a while back that the unfortunate "screen refresh/board refresh" that happens in live chess was going to be fixed, but I see no difference.  What say you to these issues?  Thanks...

Sounds use flash - iPad doesn't allow flash. I'm not sure about the refreshing issue :(

Ok...so any fix possible for those of us on the most popular tablet on the planet? The refresh issue is really maddening. It makes a lot of content here unusable for us with iOS devices. Every time you make a move, be it a problem or an article, whatever, the screen refreshes and we are scrolled back to the top of the page.

yes, I'm using an ipad2, using safari.  To be clear the problem when looking at a chess.com page where the game board/diagram is not on the top most section of the page.  So, when you scroll down to use the board (problem solving or for articles that include diagrams and analysis) every time you make a "move", the screen somehow refreshes and takes you to the top of the page again.  It's not a problem in livechess since the board is at the top of the page.  Where it's really a problem is in forums (game collections, problems, etc...).

I also had an ipad (1) and it worked great but was not as "snappy"...I LOVE using my ipad on chess.com...except for this.  With this buggy behavior I really can't do a lot of the things that I like to do at chess.com.

Yes, the seems like a MAJOR "undocumented" feature considering there are more people using iphones and ipads than any other mobile device, don't you think?

Erik, are there ANY fixes in the works for these 2 significant problems for ipad users?  I'm really counting on you here.

The "fixes" are that they are working on making live chess playable on the app itself. Chess.com can't do anything about the problems your having. The constant refresh is there because it is like a live stream of sorts and each move needs to be processed and brings it to a "new page". The sound is a flash thing and Apple products don't support flash.

apple needs to make a real browser available on the ipad :(

we are making a native app - almost done!

I think Apple's refusal to support Flash may well end up being their downfall.

HTML5 is great, but there are so many legacy sites out there that simply aren't going to refactor just because Apple refuses to support their platform.

    Hahaha... Erik 1 - Apple 0

@polydiatonic: Come on man... I know you're frustrated, but posting comments to the effect of "please help" 3 times in 2 hrs after posting? Do you think that someone saw your post, had an answer but decided not to help you, and then would see your new post and decide to help? And then you're going to be condescending to the guy who makes chess.com possible? Please... learn some manners.
