Hola, wie gehts, priviet, como sa va, shalom, salam, zdravei, ce mai faci, chetori, yakshemash, kok si, nee hao, anyung hasayoh, koneecheewah, manh khoe khong, and, well, I'm afraid that may be all I know.  At least all I can think of at the moment, and apologies if my transliterations are not quite right, but hey, I'm just a dumb American.  But at least this dumb American would like to learn more languages, and is happy to help others who may want to improve their English.  That said, it does amaze me how well my chess opponents from all over the world write English, so maybe my offer will not be an especially useful one.  Whatever.  It might be nice if we as a group could come up with a table, indexed by language in one direction, and by phrase in the other direction, so that a member could refer to this table and greet an opponent in his or her own language.  My ignorance prevents me from being able to complete such a table myself, which is why I am reaching out and seeking help.  I was hoping to include such phrases and words as:

hello

how are you?

I am doing well, thank you

good luck in the game

you are a strong chess player

shall we play again?

would you be up for a game?

OK, so with that, I leave it to the group to hopefully fill in all the blanks.  Thank you, gracias, merci, danke, spaceba, mange takk, obrigado, mulumesc, shokaran, toda, gahmsahmneedah, sheh sheh, arigato, ...

Incredible idea Vance. I only know english, but am also interested in atleast learning these various minor phrases.

I tried to work on an excel spreadsheet to organize the information in this thread, but it did not come out well. Unfortunately my excel table skills are as weak as my knowledge of a second language.
